For many wineries, creating great wine is only part of the equation. The bigger challenge is getting discovered by new customers. While organic social media helps keep existing followers engaged, reaching entirely new audiences often requires a more strategic approach.

That was exactly where Sweet Cheeks Winery found itself. Located in the heart of Oregon Wine Country, they partnered with Left Coast Marketing to launch a targeted digital advertising campaign designed to increase brand awareness, introduce the winery to new visitors, and build a stronger foundation for long-term growth.

Over the course of just 90 days, the campaign generated hundreds of thousands of impressions, thousands of meaningful engagements, and introduced the winery to nearly 167,000 unique people throughout Oregon.

Sweet Cheeks Winery had built an engaging social media presence in the heart of Oregon Wine Country, but wanted to expand its reach beyond its current audience. They partnered with Left Coast Marketing to run a targeted digital advertising campaign focused on building brand awareness, reaching new visitors, and creating a scalable advertising foundation for long-term growth.

Campaign Goals

Increase brand awareness  ·  Expand digital presence  ·  Introduce more people to the winery  ·  Reach visitors during key tourism and holiday seasons

02

The Challenge

Sweet Cheeks Winery already had a solid organic social media strategy, but like many boutique wineries, they found it difficult to consistently reach new audiences. Their content was performing well with existing followers, yet they wanted to increase visibility among tourists, local wine enthusiasts, and visitors planning trips through Oregon Wine Country. Without paid advertising, there was a limit to how many potential customers were discovering the brand.

An additional challenge was that the winery had never run Meta advertising before. Their advertising account needed to be rebuilt from the ground up with the proper campaign structure and settings to support long-term success. Rather than focusing on immediate sales, this campaign centered on growing awareness and creating meaningful engagement with new audiences.

Limited New Audience Reach

Organic content performed well with existing followers but was not reaching potential new visitors at scale.

No Prior Meta Advertising History

The advertising account needed to be rebuilt from the ground up with the proper structure and settings for long-term success.

Tourism and Seasonal Visibility

The winery needed to reach visitors actively planning Oregon Wine Country trips during key tourism and holiday seasons.

Awareness Over Direct Sales

Success needed to be measured through visibility and engagement metrics rather than immediate conversion data.

03

Our Strategy

Since Sweet Cheeks Winery already had an active presence on Facebook and Instagram, we focused on amplifying content that was already resonating while introducing it to entirely new audiences. Our strategy combined audience targeting with seasonal messaging to ensure every campaign reached people most likely to visit the winery.

We created four primary advertising campaigns focused on:

Local Radius Targeting

Visitors within a 50-mile radius of the winery.

Statewide Wine Lovers

Wine enthusiasts throughout Oregon.

Wedding and Events Audience

Couples searching for winery wedding venues and private event spaces.

Seasonal Travelers

Spring and summer travelers planning wine country experiences.

Alongside these campaigns, we also boosted the winery’s highest-performing Reels and social media posts to maximize their reach and engagement. Because the campaign focused on awareness rather than direct conversions, we monitored performance using reach, impressions, video views, unique viewers, post engagements, and Instagram profile visits.

04

Bringing the Campaign to Life

After completing the initial setup, our team launched the campaigns and immediately began monitoring performance. Instead of setting campaigns live and leaving them untouched, we reviewed results every week to identify opportunities for improvement.

Throughout the campaign, we continuously:

Refined audience targeting.

Tested different age demographics.

Swapped creative assets.

Optimized ad placements.

Shifted budgets toward higher-performing campaigns.

Tested Meta’s optimization recommendations.

One of the biggest insights came from the winery wedding campaign. While the initial audience targeted younger users, campaign data revealed that women between the ages of approximately 40 and 60 consistently generated the strongest engagement. Rather than relying on assumptions, we adjusted targeting based on actual performance data, allowing the campaign to become even more effective.

Another standout campaign promoted Memorial Day visits to the winery. Featuring bright imagery of guests enjoying the property, the advertisement quickly became one of the top performers. Since results remained consistently strong, only minor adjustments were needed while the campaign continued delivering exceptional reach.

Creative Advantage

One of the biggest advantages throughout the project was Sweet Cheeks Winery’s extensive library of high-quality photography and video content. Instead of investing additional time and budget into creating new assets, we were able to quickly refresh advertisements using existing content, allowing us to react faster to campaign performance.

06

Why This Campaign Worked

Several factors contributed to the campaign’s success.

Client Trust and Openness to Optimization

Sweet Cheeks Winery trusted our recommendations and remained open to ongoing optimization throughout the project, allowing us to act quickly on performance data.

A Strong Existing Content Library

The winery’s existing content library gave us the flexibility to test new creative without delaying campaigns or requiring additional production budget.

Seasonal and Behavioral Alignment

Every campaign aligned with seasonal tourism trends, holidays, and visitor behavior. By delivering relevant messaging at the right time, we connected with audiences who were already planning wine country experiences.

Continuous Testing and Improvement

Instead of treating advertising as a one-time launch, we viewed it as an ongoing process of testing, learning, and improving throughout the entire 90-day campaign window.

07

Key Takeaways for Other Wineries

One of the biggest misconceptions in winery marketing is that digital advertising requires a massive budget to be effective. This campaign proved otherwise. With thoughtful audience targeting, compelling creative, and continuous optimization, wineries of any size can significantly increase their visibility and introduce their brand to thousands of potential visitors.

Audience Targeting Works

Precise targeting puts your brand in front of the right people at the right moment, whether that is a local resident, a traveler, or a couple planning their wedding.

Authentic Content Outperforms

People-centered storytelling consistently outperformed promotional content and drove stronger engagement with potential visitors across every campaign.

Data Drives Better Results

Weekly reviews and real-time adjustments let us improve performance throughout the campaign rather than waiting until the end to evaluate what worked.

Add Conversion Tracking

Implementing Meta Pixel and conversion tracking for reservation, sales, and wine club campaigns creates even greater opportunities for optimization and measurable business growth.

08

Looking Ahead

In just 90 days, Sweet Cheeks Winery reached nearly 167,000 unique people, generated over 435,000 views, and built a scalable advertising foundation for future campaigns. We are excited to continue helping Sweet Cheeks Winery expand its reach throughout Oregon Wine Country while introducing even more visitors from Oregon, California, and beyond to everything the winery has to offer.

What started as a 90-day awareness campaign is now a growing, data-backed advertising program built for the long term.
